What Happened Today

1. Lucy had her first field trip today with her nursery school. They loaded them all up on the school's bus - we won't talk about child safety in this post - and took them to the park! Fun times! I know Lucy had a blast. The teachers all told me Lucy was in a wonderful mood today. Hmmm. I wonder why? My little outside girl was in her element! So, the odd thing... On the ride back from the park, somehow, for some reason, Lucy had her socks and shoes off in the bus and she came back with only her shoes... SHE THREW HER SOCKS OUT THE WINDOW!! This is the story I was given by the teachers. Yikes. Can you believe that? My little crazy girl. Needless to say, she'll be wearing sandals to school from now on...

2. As I was coming up the stairs tonight from visiting the maid downstairs... (ya'll, pray for Za. She is very sad, and I'm certain she's being mistreated and underfed. She's so skinny. I don't really know what to do for her besides love on her, give her pages of Scripture and pray for her...sad.)  ...the light on the bottom landing is out and it's quite dark. I was just coming up the 1st set of steps and I saw in the reflection of the window on the "middle" landing before you get to the 2nd floor landing where our apartment is. As I'm looking up the steps, a RAT ran past me down the stairs! I YELPED! The man just happened to speak English and asked what it was. I told him - in Arabic and in English - and he ran after it. It was HUGE! I made it up to the "middle" landing and saw it down at the bottom. BLAH!!! Super gross! I think it ran out of the apartment that's across the landing from us. When I came upstairs to our landing, our neighbor's door was open and it looked like he was moving an old fridge that had been there for a long time (maybe mr. rat's home?) and he was saying "close door". I asked him if he wanted HIS door closed, since I've never seen it open even once! He said, "no, is your door closed?" He heard me yelp, I imagine. He told me to go inside and keep my door closed. Sweet professor from Sudan and his friend were protecting me!

So... that's been my today.

OH, I also fell asleep in class today. First time in our 3 semesters for that to happen. I was super bored. And I've got the beginnings of a head cold, so that didn't help, either. I ended up leaving class for a little while. I hate falling asleep in class! It's so rude. And I hate being bored...really hate that.

I'm off to study now. I've put it off long enough... the rest of the Turkey posts will come soon, I hope. Blessings to you all.
Pray for Za!

  1. OK, socks out the window is hilarious! I wonder what went through her head at the moment she decided to air those puppies out...

Rats. YUCK! We have some rats that seem to enjoy hanging around the outside of our house, and it FREAKS ME OUT!! I can just imagine having one greet me on my way in! EEK!

    Definitely praying for Za!

    Get to feeling better soon!
