We had lots of meetings on our trip. But they were full of lots of Worship time! I even got to sing a few times...my favorite time being when there was a small choir and we sang "Total Praise." I LOVE that song! (side note, I got to sing that song a cappella with a larger choir group in the House of Parliament in Ireland a few years back... Wow!) Mom got to miss a few of her childcare times, too, to come and listen. It was very special!
A fun worship band came! Our friends Kelly and Clay came to sing and play the drums. Lucy was fascinated by the drums, but not interested in approaching them by herself.
Kelly loved holding Lucy and ate up all the attention! I believe Kelly's exact words were "I could do this all day!" (talking about holding my sweet girl) And I think Lucy could've stayed right there on Kelly's shoulder! Look how comfortable she looks!
Kelly has 2 precious little ones herself. I used to babysit her oldest a few times before we moved to Africa. But her oldest always loved Brad most! :)
Clay gave Lucy a shaker egg. I don't know what the official term is, but Lucy loved it!
Admiring the drums from afar....
We may have a drummer on our hands!
Finally, Brad scooped her up and took her to play them.
She was into it for a little bit, but then moved on.
And here's 3 generations! (Wow, mom and I really look alike!)
*The spot on my arm is a batman bandaid covering a boo boo*
Again, getting some Kelly & Lucy time!
Playing with another one of Clay's fun drum/shaker things.
All in all, it was a wonderful week. We were super tired when we got home and all of us ended up with a cold for a few days. We worshiped, heard lots of good stuff from the Word, fellowshipped with friends, made new friends, and played a lot! Lucy played A LOT! We even got a date night where we just hung out with our pals and talked, just like we all used to do together in the US! (We were just missing Jeff & Taryn!) And there was a ladies night where I won a door prize! And we had a night where the ladies got to do painting, Sips N Strokes style. It was wonderful!
I learned I like Turkish Delight! I learned that little old Turkish women have no problem telling you their opinions about your children, good or bad, and have no idea that we didn't understand anything they were saying! I learned about 6 different attributes of Jesus from the Book of John. I remembered how hot it can get in a hotel room when the hotel has changed over to heat already! I also learned that when Lucy plays hard enough, she'll fall asleep anywhere!
It was such a blessing! I'm so thankful! And I'd love to go back to Turkey one day!

Yes, you and your mom look SO much alike! It'll be fun to see if Lucy grows to look more and more like you, too. Also - I just realized I don't think I've ever heard you lead worship. I've only heard you sing the Grinch song! (and the Mermaid song in that gazebo this past March :)
ReplyDeleteGrinch song? Explain... And yes, you have heard me sing! You and James came to visit AL that year before we all headed on our adventures and you came to the big Christmas hoo-ha at the fancy AL Theater. I sang there... was that a Grinch song? Other than that, no, I don't think you've ever heard me lead worship. Sad.
ReplyDeleteYes that's the only time I've heard you sing...or maybe it was Winter Wonderland, now that I think about it? haha I just remember some group sang the Grinch song and had a 39 1/2 foot pole on stage.
