Anyway, we had our "church" tonight. Our Church looks a lot different than what most of you are used to. We are 5 families - some with lots of kids, some single, some with 1 child - and we come together once a week to sing praise songs, pray together, and have some time in the Word - and we have a nice meal each week! We are a small group and it's nothing like a big ole service, but it's what we've got and we're blessed to have this many families to worship with.
During "children's church" tonight - which consists of 7 kids, aged 7 months-11 years - they did a craft. Lucy is in a VERY clingy stage right now, so I was in there with them. (I do not lead children's church... it is not my calling... I'm the worship leader. Yay!) My friend led the group and she talked about thanksgiving and what it means and when it started. Ok, so it wasn't necessarily a Biblical lesson, but it was still great to get the kids talking about being thankful! Then the craft - well... see for yourself...
It's Turkey made out of an apple! (and toothpicks, which made it a bit tricky and slightly dangerous...*but she was supervised very closely by me the whole time!* and raisins, cheerios, and popcorn, and a date for the head!) PRECIOUS!
She was so proud. She wanted to carry it around all night once we got home.
See, she's petting it!
Such admiration!
And a CHEESE! But she wouldn't look away from her turkey. (She says "turkey" very cute!)
Unfortunately for Mr. Apple Turkey, he was made of things that will go bad overnight here, so he just got chucked. BUT, we got some great pictures and she'll have forgotten him in the morning. If not, I have another cute turkey craft up my sleeves...
And here's the side view of Mr. Apple Turkey (appropriate name, huh? you know, since we're an Apple Family and all...)
Happy Early Thanksgiving, friends! Headed across the international border Saturday to do some mad grocery shopping! Can't wait for the yummy meal next week!

So funny how proud she is of the turkey. Kids and their crafts - we have to be so sneaky about getting rid of them huh? :)
ReplyDeleteYep, and then talking to my mom on Skype the other night, she mentioned Mr. Apple Turkey... we had to VERY quickly nip that conversation topic! Whew, it was a close one!
