Potty Training: Day 2

I wrote an email to a friend tonight about today's update on Potty Training: Day 2. It's been a doozy! I don't have the energy to write another blog... So, here goes.

Today was not fun. Not at all. not even for a moment. I think that yesterday we were all geared up for the day, and so the incessant cleaning up didn't get to us, but today - dang, Lucy is STUBBORN! She got up at 7 and didn't pee or poo anywhere for 2 whole hours! She held it in for 2 hours! Who does that? Who CAN do that? Everyone pees when they first wake up! She would dance around, holding herself, crossing her legs, and when we sit her on the potty, NOTHING. I mean, nothing all day long in the potty. But as soon as she gets up, pee everywhere! And a big, long POO in the tub tonight, Nice. We knew she was holding it in all day... She's got this mental block going on now, though. For some reason, she doesn't want to sit on the potty and she for sure won't GO in the potty. We've noticed that she only goes when she's standing up. So that may be part of the problem. Blah. It was horrible. (I read online one mom who said that these 3 days were "hell". Yep, I agree. We think that this has been THE hardest parenting time for us since the first few weeks of her life on earth!)

But, honestly, the thing that's really driven me over the wall today is that she's being blatantly defiant. I mean, WAY more than usual. Acting out. Looking us straight in the face and doing things she knows she's not supposed to do. And I spank her, but nothing. Blah.

Tomorrow, we are going to try it with NO panties all day and see what happens. She likes wearing the panties, so maybe we'll make that part of the reward. Oh, and the reward thing for going on the potty hasn't worked for her at all! (I can see Micah liking the rewards more than Lucy...) We've told her about candy, about presents - nothing. We've let her watch the iPod while she's sitting there and nothing. We've given her little medicine bottles to play with - you know how she loves little bottles. She's been calling them Daddy, Mommy, and Lucy bottles - but still, nothing.

*Oh, by the way, she totally says "Lucy" now. It's more like "..ucy" Precious.*

Thankfully, she hasn't wet the bed! But then again, she only goes when she's standing up!

So, there's the cut and dry. We've got one more intensive day. We skipped our house church today so we could be intensive! Lucy and I haven't left the house in 2 days. Brad's gone out very briefly once each day. We've followed the 3 day plan exactly. But tomorrow, we're gonna go NO panties...well, that's our plan. We'll see... I'll let ya'll know.

  1. Thinking of you and feeling your pain... I'm scared myself, just thinking about trying to train my boy!!! Bought a Thomas the Train potty seat today, washed over 20 pairs of undies, bought 3 liters of juices, a box of popsicles, 2 bags of jelly beans and even splurged on expensive goldfish! I say we're as ready as we're going to be!!! Just wish we could have done this together!!! Miss you!!!
