Ice Swimming

Yesterday, we blew up the inflatable pool and decided to let Lucy go for a swim. We waited until 5pm because it's just way too hot during the day to voluntarily be outside.

(Remember, we're on a mini-vacation/work trip to our former city and staying at our boss's house. They have a 'yard' area, so Lucy's getting to play outside in the sweltering heat every afternoon!)

Because in this area of the world the sun literally makes the water in the tanks (located on the rooftops of every building) feel like it's boiling during the day, it took a while to make the water temperature come down from 'hot bath' to 'mild swim' water. Lucy wouldn't even get in! We thought that if we ran the water and let it sit for a little while, it would cool down enough, but even after about 10 minutes, it was still too hot to be pleasant!

So... we added...
ICE! Please count with me just how many ice packs we added...I count 10 or 11 in this shot...
And this is how Lucy spent most of the "swimming" time.
Reaching in, grabbing one of the ice packs, and chewing/sucking on it. Yep.
 It was really hot!
See, here she is again on another side of the pool, doing the same thing!
And by this time, the smaller of the ice packs was totally melted inside. The water in the pool was VERY warm!
Success! She's in! I think Brad put her in!
And the "CHEESE" face.
At one point, Brad left to get us some veggies for dinner and Lucy felt abandoned. She had to follow him to the gate. Very sad.
But I love these two pictures - the lighting is nice, I think. :)
 And this one... see... precious!
Although, her "CHEESE" face can look a little like Chandler's fake smile face - FRIENDS fans... can I get an amen?
See her sweaty head? It's wet from sweat because she never got her head wet! To me, that's NOT swimming!
But you can see how wet MY head is... again, not from swimming...
 CHEESE! And an actual smile!
And you had to see her little dirty booty!
So grateful for her water shoes from Nana! And since she only stays in the water - when it's cool enough - for about 10 minutes, they came in wonderfully handy on the molten, lava temperature pavement! Thanks, Nana!
