Buried in the Sand

Yesterday we took an impromptu afternoon beach trip. We're staying here...might as well use the beach! It was wonderful! You really have to wait until after 5 to be outside in the afternoons because it's so hot. So, around 5, he loaded up and drove the 5 minutes to the beach and had a wonderful time, just the 3 of us, playing in the sand and in the waves.

Believe it or not, the temperature of the ocean water is more like the temperature of a warm, if not hot, bath. Not the most refreshing feeling, but still a lot of fun! The waves were very strong, so Lucy didn't get any freedom from mommy & daddy while she was in the water - which wasn't her favorite! She is certainly independent! So she ended up playing in the sand more than in the water.

Now, I'm not a huge fan of sand. That's no secret. But Brad and Lucy... they love it! Brad decided he wanted to be buried, so he did most of the work burying his lower half, and then I 'sacrificed' and grabbed one of Lucy's shovels to do his torso and arms. Once he climbed out, Lucy crawled over into the hole he left and started covering herself up! Now for this cuteness, I don't mind a little sand. Enjoy the video of Lucy being buried in the sand - of her own accord!

Brad built up the sand around her like a lounge chair. She was perfectly content!
Here she is when she came out. I love her face. She was not happy to be uncovered.
