Her First Swimming Lesson

Last Thursday, after a failed Ballet class, I took Lucy to her first swimming lesson! She got a good talk from us this time: No quitting Swimming! You must learn to swim!

I found a teacher on a recommendation. She's German and is certified in teaching under 5 year olds. She did great with Lucy! And except for her limited English, it was a wonderful experience! Several times, Lucy wanted to quit. But, like we said before, she wasn't allowed to quit and she made it through. Unlike the lessons I taught that were only 30 minutes (that felt like 3 hours sometimes!), Lucy's lesson was 1 full hour! She split the lesson with another little girl who is 3, Leah, so she did get to rest a little bit.

After their individual turns with the kickboard, Franzi (the teacher) had them race across the pool with the kickboard. Lucy won! She kicked all the way across the pool! That's not an easy task!
Sure wish it was Aunt Meredith or Aunt Lesley teaching Lucy...but I guess Franzi is the next best thing!

This one is a keeper! Lucy continues swimming lessons in June. We're excited to see our little water lover learn to swim...and stop using her water wings that the grandparents seem to have strong opinions about...  :)
