Milestones

Some of the milestones we've hit in Lucy's life have been exciting to me - most of them, actually. And most of the ones to come excite me, too.

But tonight, I'm not excited. Tonight, I just feel like she's growing up way too fast. Tonight, I wish she was still teeny, tiny, and I could just hold her.

Tonight, Brad took the front rail off her baby bed and put on the safety rail, leaving a barely 1-foot gap of space where she can get out, if she so desires. BAH... I'm NOT ready for this!

So far, it's been fine. So far, I think she's so tired that she's probably not even noticed the difference. It is almost completely dark in her room, after all. But that doesn't mean she'll stay there. We put a mattress down on the floor next to the bed - just - in - case -. I really wanted to leave her in the baby bed until - well, until she tried to get OUT of the baby bed. (Which she hasn't done.)

Really, though, I guess I haven't thought much about these big milestones coming up: quitting the pacifier, getting in a "big girl bed", potty training. I mean, these are some huge milestones! She's not really even talking yet! I can get "bye bye," "ball," "hot," "fish," "duck" or "quack" (we can't tell), "mama" (this is only recently. I LOVE it!), "tickle." But that's about it. She's seriously SO precious that I can't contain myself sometimes!

Change of subject:

***Make sure to only scroll down ONE PICTURE AT A TIME*** (it's worth it!)

Today I put Lucy's hair in the oh-so-precious pig tails that you've seen in previous posts. When we picked her up, the nursery ladies had redone her hair. This is what we got:
Looks very cute from the R side, doesn't it? Not to mention, I have NO idea how they got her to sit still enough to put all those rubber bands in. (And how I had to cut each one of them out of her hair tonight!)
Now take a closer look at the whole head...
What is that poking out of the Left side of her precious punkin head?
Oh yeah, it's a pony tail sticking STRAIGHT OUT from her head! Only on 1 side! HA!
Here's the front view. Wow. Even my local friend tonight gave her a bit of a funny look on first viewing! Crazy hair! :) (Seriously, though... how did they get her to sit still that long? And those suckers were in there tightly! Sheesh!)

Oh well. I guess that's another milestone in my big, baby girl's life. Sitting still to get her hair done. Such a big girl!

*I'll do a follow up to this one to let you know how the sleeping goes!*

Hey, this is the hairstyle that you wanted when you were three and we lived in the apartment in Forestdale. Your friend Khaliah had it and you came home asking for pigtails all over your head!

    Love you.

  2. haha!! that's crazy! Hazel screams anytime we come close to touching her head, so I don't dare do designs like I'd like. (not that I'd try that one...no offense sweet Lucy...haha!)
