One Full Year

Yesterday marked 1 full year here in our current, village-like, small town. As we were driving back yesterday from our former, big city where we went for some Eid visits, it was amazing to think back on our year and all that's happened and changed since we've been here. Here's a recap:

Last year, Sept 1 - all our worldly goods packed onto a truck, ready to go!
This is our bedroom, the night we moved in.
Lucy's room - a mess - in that first few weeks here in our apartment.
Our first day of school last year. September, 2010
We didn't even realize how much Arabic we DID NOT know at this point!
 Oh, Lucy...
A stop on a long drive - aren't the mountains beautiful?
 It's her "Silly Hat"
 Precious pig tails
Fun times in a wadi that's close to us, October 2010, I think
Awww...remember when she was just a baby?
 Happy Thanksgiving, 2010
 Playing at the park
Before going to a local friend's wedding
Merry Christmas, 2010!
Lucy and her best pal, Micah, jumping on the bed.
In December, 2010, Lucy switched from baby bed to big girl bed!
 Christmas Night, 2010
"Sliding" down her mattress on top of daddy's legs has become one of her favorite things to do
My Daddy & sister, Emily - Christmas, 2010
Christmas Day Skype with my mom and 2 other sisters, Lesley & Meredith
Precious face captured by pal Brittney
 Waiting for bath time
January, 2011 - see, we're all bundled up. Cold out in the desert at night!
Lucy and Micah, in their little people's lounge chairs, watching tv
Our first trip to the Zoo, January, 2011
Playing with Bibi, who visited in January, 2011

This sure is turning into a picture post, isn't it?

She got henna - much to the chagrin of my mother :)

 Amman, Jordan, August 2011
AHHHH!!! (sung in loud, angelic type voice) The Roman Amphitheater in Jerash, Jordan, August 2011 (one of my highlights this year!)
Back home. And the sandstorms are intense!
We start back to school on Sept 5 - only 3 days away. Labor day, actually. I think we started on labor day last year, too.

Well, that's been our year in review. One full year in this apartment. One full year of Arabic under our belts. One full year of Lucy's cute antics and her occasional horrible spells. (Do you realize how soft and kissable her cheeks are? I mean, seriously.) One full year in our current, village-like, small Arab town. One full year of friends, babies, swimming, and growing up. Another blessed year with Brad by my side. Another year of growing in the Lord and being abundantly blessed by him.

Weird that at this time next year, we'll be in the US...

  1. I love these pics! We have a friend we call Baby Adley (like your Baby Grace) and she's now about 18 months. :) I love your Independence Day family picture!! And I love that I was a part of your year...small, but still.
