The ZOO!!!

Today we had to cross the border and we decided to make a fun day out of it! The city we visited has this amazing zoo! So, after we finished our errands and ate some delicious Chili's (yum!), we plugged in the ZOO to our GPS and headed that way!

This zoo is so nice and quite big! We had such a good time! I was so excited because the Zoo was such a huge part of my childhood/life and I teared up a little when we first walked in! Made me miss my Daddy... And sing this LOVELY little song my mom used to sing when she'd drop me off in the mornings for my teen volunteer shifts at the Birmingham Zoo..."We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo. How about you, you, you? You can come too, too, too. We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo." (It's catchy, trust me.)

They had these small windows that were at a lower level for kiddos to look through. Genius! She loved sitting on the ledge! (See the lions in the exhibit?)

Anywho. Like I said, this Zoo is pretty fantastic! They are remodeling, so there was some construction, but mostly, it was wonderful! And SO cheap! We paid less than $8 for all three of us to spend the day there - AND, it included a train ride in the ticket price!
Here we are on the train. (We were hot and ready for a little down time!)

They have white lions! Beautiful!
And we saw 2 Rhinos!

Our only complaint was that because of the remodeling, there were no signs! I love my signage! So, we said a lot of "there's another gazelle-like thing, maybe just a deer" and "oh, another bird".

All three of us were totally zonked after we walked the entirety of the zoo, rode the train, and had red slushies.

But as we were walking out, there was a guy there holding an Owl. It was cool. Lucy just had to get her picture taken with the owl! (that might just be my code way of saying I HAD to get her picture...)

  1. Something about that zoo looks so Arab and desert-y! Did they have any normal-to-us animals there? Like the zoo in India features tons and tons of deer!
