It's been raining now for 2 days.
Yes, we do live in the desert.
Yes, this is a huge blessing.
No, it's not POURING, but really, any rain is enough to "upset" daily life.
Yes, it makes the temperature much, much cooler! (It's 59 at 9:45 am.) (It's 69 at 10:55 am)
Surprisingly, though, our current, small village-like town is not completely underwater, as I would have supposed. In our former, big city, when it rained, the city was basically shut down because everything flooded! Maybe it was the fact that you are in walking distance of the ocean almost anywhere you go. Maybe it was the fact that the whole place is paved, so there's nowhere for the water to "soak" into. Who knows. But seriously, if our f, bc got this much rain, everything would be closed!
Here, though, things seem to be running as normal. And despite the fact that we really are in the middle of the desert now, the huge dirt lot in front of our apartment building has NOT turned into a huge mud lot. Honestly, I'm shocked. And this morning, early, they had a water-sucker truck at the one place that this huge lot has collected water and they were sucking it all up! (Didn't get it all, of course, cause it was continuing to rain on them as they sucked.)
Thank you, Jesus, for the rain!
