Correction: Sick Weekend

Well, Lucy's sick day turned into My Sick Weekend!

We started Friday morning with everything being fine. Everyone felt fine. Lucy's cough was almost nothing by this point. On our drive to our fellowship (church), I got a twinge of a headache. No big deal, though, cause I get headaches all the time.

We got there, visited, had the music/worship time and all was fine. I had "children's church" this week, so I took Lucy, Micah, & Morgan into the other room and proceeded with my "lesson." (My first actually prepared children's lesson ever, might I add!) I read them the Veggie Tales book God Made You Special then we traced everyone's handprints on a piece of paper and I wrote "God made .... Special" and put the date with each child's name. It was a very cute and simple lesson for these 2, 2, & 4 year olds. Everything was going smoothly. I read the book multiple times and then they lost interest and were just playing. The two older kids had come into the room by this point (10 & 8).

The 10 year old was sitting next to me and I started feeling pretty achy in my legs and back. It was strange how it just took over so fast. A few minutes in, after I had gotten up a few times to wrangle kids, I started feeling a bit queasy in my tummy, too, and the achy-ness was getting to be a bit overwhelming. (This literally happened within 10-15 minutes) I told the 10 year old that I wasn't feeling very well.

As soon as Brad poked his head into our room to say the adults were finished with their lesson, I told him that we had to go right then cause I was circling the drain, so to speak. I helped pick up all the toys - all the while feeling worse and worse - and then I headed to the car to wait for Brad and Lucy.

Every bump and turn we made made my body ache more. It was horrible!!!

By the time we got home - a 5 min car ride, maximum - I was spent. I made it up our stairs and into the apartment. I headed to the bathroom and then couldn't make it to the bedroom. I was crying at this point and totally worthless. I haven't felt that bad in YEARS! Brad basically forced some Advil down my throat and then just about carried me to the bedroom. I got in bed and lay there shivering for what seemed like an eternity before I fell asleep.

The last time I was this sick - with the same symptoms - I was in my junior year of college. I remember that I had play practice the night before, but I had to leave because I was feeling as described above. My friend John Paul had an apartment and he had me come over the next morning so he could take care of me. My dad came and picked me up that morning and I was sick and missed the whole next week of classes! Sheesh! That's the only time I ever remember shivering in bed and being so sick like I was this weekend!

Back to 2011, I slept about 3 hours before I woke up with a massive headache, on top of all the other symptoms. My fever never breached 100, but it was close to it all day.

Around 645, I was spent again and had to hit the sack. I had been trying to stay up so that I could sleep through the night, but I was back to crying at this point and I knew I had to go to bed.

WARNING, THE NEXT PART MAY BE A BIT TOO MUCH INFO FOR SOME FOLKS...

I slept until 10ish, and then was up. This time, feeling just as miserable as I had before, but the headache was the most overwhelming thing. Around 11, I just started praying that God would let me throw up - you know how throwing up isn't the most wonderful thing, but afterwards, you always feel better. In God's perfect timing, he let me throw up and released me from quite a bit of the misery I had been in all day.

Brad and I went to bed a little while after that and besides the lingering, massive headache, I'm happy to say that yesterday and today, I've had no fever and no chills and no achy-ness.

All this to say - it's been quite a start to this Spring Break week!

In all this, I have many things to thank the Lord for:
-His perfect timing. I didn't have to miss any school for this sickness, the throwing up came exactly when I needed it, the sickness came while we were at home and not on our planned trip for the week (leaving tomorrow).
-The fact that I haven't been this sick since 2001. That's a long time! 10 years! Praise the Lord that this isn't a normal thing for me!
-The fact that the worst part of it only lasted 1 day!
-My amazing Brad, who took care of me AND Lucy, even though he was sorta achy himself!
-That neither Brad nor Lucy got sick!
-That despite my sickness and my fragile, human body, my God is bigger and stronger than any of this and He is still on His throne, high and exalted and never left my side!
