We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...

(Going to the zoo in just a minute...hang on.)

So, my sister Emily had a reception on Saturday. Lucy stayed outside the whole time - and ate fresh basil - like straight off the plant - like it was candy. Odd child of mine.

Then, on Monday morning, she decided to open the bag of coffee that her Daddy had just bought and smell it up close. A literal "brown nose" is what occurred afterwards. :) Cuteness.

Monday we went to the zoo with my Dad (Babu - pronounced "bah-boo"- it's Swahili for Grandpa)
There's a section where you can go inside a bird cage and feed these Lorikeets. I was expecting them to be tiny little birds. Nope. You can see in the following pictures just how "large" these guys are. No, they don't look so large, but when they are sitting on your HEAD, they feel quite large!

They kinda just ATTACK you when you walk into the cage. See, they give you a small cup full of the food and so the birds are super excited to get it. And they just fly around you the whole time you're in there. At one point, one landed on Lucy's head. Well... she screamed and ran out. (Honestly, I can't blame her! It was a bit unsettling!)
I was much happier when they got OFF my head!
You'll notice that there is a cage between me and Brad and my Daddy and the birds now.
I left with Lucy!
Daddy and Brad seemed quite happy to hold birdies!
(I don't see any on their heads, though...)
There's a fun play area that's quite different from a normal playground. Here's Lucy in the giant "spiderweb."
At the Sea Lion exhibit.

Massive Alligator!
Another cool thing at the Bham Zoo is getting to feed the Giraffes!

Posing with the big elephant

And of course, we had to ride the train!
There's a children's zoo now and Lucy got to pet goats, sheep, pigs...
Very cool.

On the "Walk through Alabama" area, there's a sculpture of a bunny. She wanted to give him a hug.
It's SO fun to see my Dad just come to life with his granddaughter! PRECIOUS and priceless!
Lucy rode the carousel 3 times!

We had such a fun day with my Daddy! It was a beautiful day and such a blessing to be in God's creation, seeing his amazing animals! Thanks, Babu! Thanks, Daddy! We love you!
