18 Weeks!

Technically on Thursday, I was only 17 weeks and 5 days.

We had a doctor visit on Thursday morning. It didn't start so well... We got there at 8:10 (my appointment was at 8:25). The main door to the hospital was closed - locked - and we had to enter through the emergency door. *This isn't an "early morning" culture, especially during Ramadan!* The emergency room was quite busy, but we just had a regular appointment. After a few minutes, a nurse came down and talked to the lady at the reception desk. It was obvious they were talking about me because they turned and pointed at me while they were talking. She called me and told me/us to follow her. As we're riding up the elevator with the nurse to the OB department, she told us that the doctor hadn't arrived yet. BLAH. The nurse had talked to the doctor the night before and dr thought her first appointment was at 9. Apparently registration hadn't told her she had not only an 8:25, but also an 8:00 appointment! Boo. This wasn't a great sign.

Amazingly, the doctor arrived around 8:45. Things started looking up from there. This doctor is quite efficient! She took care of the first appointment and then it was our turn in about 10 minutes. We visited, asked questions, and then we got to do an amazing, in-depth ultrasound! She said it was a bit early to do another ultrasound, but I asked if we could do it anyway. Once we're in the US, we won't have that much freedom with seeing our little one.

Everything looked great! She did recommend that we do a follow-up ultrasound at 22 weeks - which is fine with me! So, hopefully my US dr will honor that.

NO, we didn't find out the sex of the baby. We have our suspicions, but we don't know how to read an ultrasound...and we could be totally wrong!

I also think that I've been feeling Baby move this week! Yay!

Anyway, enjoy the CUTENESS.

The dr very frequently switched over to 3D for us to try to see details. She said that the reason it looks so odd right now, in the picture below, is because Baby doesn't have any fat. So it's just skeleton and skin right now. Still, cool picture!
All the organs are there. Spine looks great. Kidneys and heart are functioning.
Baby is measuring right around 17 1/2 weeks, yet head is measuring at 19 weeks! Ha! We've all got big heads!
We praise the Lord for this child! (And for Lucy!) And know that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of Life.

"With man it is impossible, but not with God. For with God, all things are possible." Mark 10:27
