I guess I chalk up my apparent writer's block to my brain being totally consumed with everything else...namely, Arabic.
But, I'm going to power through and get one out there! Let's catch up...
We had a long weekend this weekend. I'm currently enjoying the 3rd day of our long weekend. It's wonderful to be able to sleep in and stay in our PJs all day! Brad's going hiking with some guys later today and Lucy and I will run to the grocery store and just relax afterwards.
The first 2 days of our long weekend were spent in our former, big city. We had a great time visiting with local friends there and having some wonderful food! One thing we really don't have here in our current, small town is family friends. I have girl friends. Brad has guy friends. But none of them are families. And we really miss being able to visit together, as a family. (Yes, you can Pray for that!) Lucy had some quality playing time with several of her friends. (Pictures below) And Brad and I got to have some quality time with the adults. It was a blessed time!
Last week, we headed over to a park with some local and American friends. Lucy got to play with Micah and Morgan, her best pals. They loved swinging, going round and round, and sliding. But Micah and Lucy mostly loved running around and getting into trouble! Such is the life of a 2 year old!
To explain the next picture...Brad and I love the show Alias. We have all 5 seasons and while it does take some crazy turns sometimes, we still watch it over and over again. Any of you who know the show know there is a part in it where Sydney - the main character - is a child and she finds this crazy hard puzzle and is able to solve it easily and quickly. Then later, her daughter can do it with the same ease. It's a spacial reasoning thing and in the show the CIA used it as a kind of early detection for children to see if they would make good spies. It involves stacking these oddly shaped pieces on top of each other.
We've been calling Lucy a little Sydney Bristow for some time now because she loves stacking things - precarious things - on top of each other and can usually get about 4 objects on top of each other before they fall or she knocks them down. At the park, she found this big stone and the proceeded to stack 4 smaller ones on top of it. She's a genius! :)
On our 3-hour drive home yesterday, we encountered quite a bit of traffic - Zah-mah in Arabic. We were able to get off the main road just before we hit this probably a mile-long jam of huge trucks going into one of the many round-abouts in this town. As we were just getting past everything, the traffic was, of course backing up on the other side of the road heading into the round-about on their side. We saw these cars cutting through these openings under this bridge that goes over a wadi. So funny.
She loves her puppy! He doesn't have a name, yet. Puppy.
