It's hard to believe that we now live in the smallest town we've ever lived in. Seriously. I can't give you numbers, but just know that we have to drive an hour away now, or cross a border to get to a major grocery store to get things other than the basics. (I haven't been grocery shopping, or even to the grocery stores in our town yet, but I expect I'll post about it when I do.)
Anyway...
It's been a whirlwind of a day and we've really accomplished a lot more than I expected! I've taken pictures - last night after the stuff was all loaded in, and just now after 1 day of sorting and arranging. I'm planning a nice comparison entry. Stay tuned!
One thing we continue to realize in each move is that we are too worldly! We have too many things. As the guys, who were probably in their 50s, (and from a neighboring Mslm country. These men come here for work. Our countrymen don't do menial labor...blah. Don't get me started on the class system!!), carried our things in on their backs, soaking with sweat in the blazing heat, we were humbled and humiliated. Humbled at how hard they were working and how they serve and continue to smile, even as grandpas, and humiliated at how much we have. We plan some major cleaning out in the next weeks!
So, all is well. We are here. We've got our beds up and our sofa and living room area almost complete. It's beginning to feel more comfortable. I went to see Lucy's nursery school today. It's very cute. I think she's going to have a great time! (More about that later, too.)
Please pray for Lucy. We're fairly certain that all this transition is kinda rough on her. SHE'S FINE, but she's a bit extra whiney and very clingy. Pray that she'll adjust quickly and that she'll have peace here. Pray for her as we get ready to start school (she should start on Sept 18).
We'd also ask you to pray for us as we adjust to this new place, too. Did you know that Brad and I have moved 14 times in our 7.5 years of marriage??? That's a lot. We have some loud and pretty rambunctious kids in our building. We both woke up last night several times with the stomping above us and all the moving around. Yes, it is Ramadhan and they are up later. Hopefully when school starts back, things will be a bit calmer up there. Pray we'll spend our time wisely and that we'll stay focused on the Word and on each other and on Lucy and not let 'moving' get us so tired and distracted.
God is good. All the time. And his grace still amazes me!

Praying, friend. Soon, it'll feel normal, a little more like "home".
