Captain America Birthday Party

Last night, we went to a birthday party for a boy in Lucy's class, Tamim. He turned 5 last week and invited the whole class to come celebrate, Captain America style. The invitation said the party was from 5:30-9. We got there at 5:45 and the doors were still closed and they were setting up. Normal for over here. Around 6, we went inside. There were a couple kids there, but things hadn't started yet and weren't even close to starting.

The set-up for the party was intense.
There was a professional photographer who was posing the birthday boy in different spots around the room.
Everything had his name on it.
On the gift bag tag, it said, "Thank you for coming to my party! Tamim" and the goodies inside all had his name, too

Definitely the most elaborate 5 year old party we've ever been to! And the most patriotic!

Before the party officially started, she and these 3 kiddos were running around like wild kids!

 Birthday boy!

 Let the games begin!
Look at precious Lucy holding hands with her friend, Talia.
And when Will finally got up the courage to get out of our laps, he went to the tables and started messing with everything.
He gathered up all these water bottles
Meanwhile, Lucy is being turned into a pink and purple butterfly
 (Professional face painter, too!)
Lucy and Talia called each other their face twin all night
Boys and Girls did the games separately. This game, they had to hold a balloon between their legs and hop to the other side. Lucy won this one!
 She got a prize!
(Please notice Lucy and Tamim. He turned 5 last week. Lucy will be 6 in January, and Lucy is very tall for her age. But this kid...sheesh! He's huge!)
 The cake!
 Playing another game.
They had to run down, put the straws into the bottles, then run around a post, before taking the straws back out of the bottles and running back to hand off to the next kiddo. Elaborate.
Meanwhile in Will world... He started taking the stools and flipping them over.

For cake time, we sang and then Tamim cut the cake and had a bite - much like we do at weddings.

After they cut the cake, the kids were all given Happy Meals. The adults got coffee shop food, but it was tasty, too.
Kids got cupcakes and cake after their Happy Meals and then the CRAZY running around began!

Lucy with her friends Dania and Talia.
Some of the loot from the goody bag.
And finally, as the workers were trying to pack everything up, all the kids piled onto the luggage cart and they pulled them around.
Will started practicing for his career as a restaurant worker or custodian.
And finally, we got home. The kids were sugared out. Brad and I were tired, as well. But it was a super fun night for all of us!
Happy Birthday, Tamim! (But know...classmates and parents, Lucy's birthday party will not resemble this party at all!)

  1. Love it! What a fancy party! Even their dresses are fancy! I looooove the bow tie Tamim is wearing. Very South Carolinian. ;)
