100 in the shade

We reached it today! 100 degrees in the shade outside our apartment at 12 noon! Wow. Yep, summer's here!

This week we have a break from school. A much-needed break from school. And when we start back, we have only 6 weeks left! I'm so excited that we will be finished with our first year of language school in just over 6 weeks!!!

What's even more exciting is that in just 4 days, my sister, Meredith, is coming to visit! Yay! And with all the traveling we have planned in May, these last few weeks of school are going to fly by! Praise the Lord!

So, this past weekend, we headed to a fancy hotel for a meeting with our company folk. We got there Thursday afternoon. Had a meeting that night, then all day Friday, then Saturday night. SO, we got to spend all day Saturday, all day Sunday, and all day Monday playing at this nice hotel! It was a lot of fun and very relaxing. Needless to say, I was NOT ready to come home yesterday when our late checkout time (4 pm!) arrived.

Saturday night, we headed into our former city for the last meeting. But Lucy and I went to my friend's house instead. (Lucy can't go to a meeting!) And so Lucy and I got 5 good hours of Arabic and visiting in while Brad went to the last meeting. Then we drove back to the hotel, a mere 45 minutes away, not bad. Then Sunday night, we headed back into town to have dinner at the mall with our friends, in double date (plus Lucy) fashion. We had a great time and got even more Arabic and visiting! I took a few pictures of Lucy and Brad playing in the kids area while we were waiting for our friends to arrive:

Brad was driving first...

Then they switched places and Lucy drove. At one point, she was holding the wheel in one direction and they were going round and round and round. It was very funny!

I know you see a lot of pictures of us playing in these kids areas...but hey, when it's 100 in the shade, that's where we go to play!

Our friend K took some pictures of all of us while we were at the beach one day, since our camera went kaput about a month ago. (We're on the prowl for another good camera...) Yesterday while we were playing at the beach/ocean, a sea turtle about 3 ft long was swimming nearby. It was very cool to see him! He was HUGE! And when he poked up his head to breathe...wow! Huge! The man working there said there's a HUGE one, a medium one, and a small one that regularly come up on the shore at night. Very cool. But, unfortunately, no pictures.

Here's a few from the hotel:
After swimming each day, we laid on the bed and watched cartoons. Lucy loves snuggling up under the covers!

She was comfortable in the hotel-provided house shoes.

This is a strange thing. Brad was trimming his toenails and Lucy got up on the bed and grabbed the other pair of clippers and started "trimming" her toenails, too!

Very funny to see her mimic us!

These pics were all taken with my iPhone.
